Buying your property

Q: How easy is it to buy property in Turkey ?

A: Very straightforward. Our experts, who are experienced in conducting purchases of Turkish property for UK citizens, will happily help you thoughout your purchase. In many ways it's even more straightforward than buying property in the UK .

Q: What are the additional costs?

A: There are stamp duty, legal fees, wealth tax and purchase tax. These generally amount to around 3-5% of the total purchase price.

Q: How quickly can the sale be completed?

A: On average, buying a property in Turkey takes around 6 weeks from agreeing the sale to being able to move in.

Running your property

Q: What costs are involved in owning a property in Turkey ?

A: Obviously there are the costs of energy and other utilities such as water. There are also state property, wealth and environmental taxes but these are relatively low, amounting to just a few hundred pounds a year. There is also management fee payable to the agents who manage your development.

Q: Does the property have to be my permanent residence?

A: Not at all. You are free to spend as much or as little time as you like in residence in Turkey .

Q: Who's responsible for the upkeep of the common parts of the property?

A: The management company of your apartment block is responsible. Please see below the ESTIMATED costs for the monthly maintenance fee which will be reviewed at the end of 2006 and then reviewed on an annually basis.

Q: Will I find it easy to rent out my property?

Living in Turkey

Q: Is there a good health service?

A: Healthcare is generally very good and there are many reciprocal private health plans available in the UK which entitles you to private care in Turkey . A fantastic public hospital and 2 private hospitals are very close to Calis.

Q: What's the cost of living like in Turkey ?

A: Comparatively very low. Fresh food is excellent value for money with most items costing around 50% less than in the UK .

Q: Do I need to learn Turkish?

A: No. You'll find Turkish people are friendly and hospitable and will go out of their way to help you - though if you do make an effort to learn just a little of the language it will always bring advantages. Over 2000 UK nationals live in the neighbouring town of Fethiye .

Q: Can I get a job in Turkey ?

A: Yes, as long as you get a work permit first. Our lawyer will be able to advise you on how to go about it.
